KNOW YOUR COUNCILLORS 2008

.... Councillor Michael Britton, is
Chairman of the Council. :-Michael has has been on the council
since 2006 and has lived in the village for about ten years. He is very interested in the
history of the village and preserving historic parts of the village, as well as creating
new facilities for villagers.

Roger Farrell is Vice Chairman having stood down as Chair in
2008. I have lived in the village for about 15 years and joined the council in 2003. I set
up and run this website and I am interested in the preserving the character and history of
the village.
...Councillor John Hoyle as
well as serving on the Parish Council is Chairman of the Village Field
and he leaises between the council and the committee. He has lived in the village for
since 1987 and has being a councillor for 9 years he is involved in organising village
field events.
....Councillor Andy Tagger has live in the Village for
25 years and being on the council for some five years joining in 2003. He is responsible
for editing the Newsletter and was the main councillor that dealt with the new lighting
scheme in the village.

Peter Atkinson Has lived in the Village four 4 years and is responsible for
Police Liaison and organising the Police surgeries in the Reading room. Peter is
very keen to expand the Neighbour Hood Watch scheme and get more residents to volunteer as
co-ordinators.

Hazel Crabtree has lived in the Village for 12 years and has being on the council
for 18 months. Hazel is very busy in the Village, apart from being a Priest in Darrington,
she is involved with the school and the children, runs the Tea & Coffee morning in the
reading rooms and visits resident throughout the Village. She is very keen on the idea of
starting a Gardening Club in the Village.

Fogden Clerk to the Council Joined the council in 2007, although he only
works part time for us, he is very involved in local government and has a wide range of
knowledge of Parish Councils.
All councillors are volunteers and are not paid for the time they spend on
Council business. You can e-mail any of the Councillors at darrington.pc@tiscali.co.uk and it will
be forwarded to the Councillor concerned.
The Council meets the first Tuesday in the month (not August) (check notice
boards) at 7.00pm in The Spread Eagle, Estcourt Road, Darrington. The meetings are
scheduled to last two hours.
Members of the public are welcome to come along to the meetings, by law they are not
permitted to speak in the meeting, but the Council sets aside 15 minutes before the
Council meeting starts so members of the public can raise any points they would like
to bring to the Councils attention. We welcome members of the public and want to encourage
more residents to attend the meetings.
