Darrington Today

There are 3 Public houses, 2 Hotels and one Golf Club within Darrington.

The SPREAD at Darrington was taken over by the Johnson family just before Christmas 2017.  After many months of hard work, they, together with a wonderful band of local trades men and volunteers have brought this wonderful pub back to being the beating heart of the rural village of Darrington.

The Darrington Hotel provides affordable food and accommodation, and has a well equipped children’s play area, and The Kyte Hotel run by The Gallimores provides good food, accommodation and a function suite for events.

The Mid-Yorkshire Golf Club is to the east side of the village. This is a top class club with an extensive club house and function suite for events.

Joe and Gail Jenkins and their family have run the village shop for a good few years now and have become friends and providers to the village, not only modernising and superbly stocking the shop itself, but helping with almost every village project by promoting, delivering, donating and lending manpower. Their help and friendliness is of huge value to many in the village and will be most sadly missed when they hand the shop over to new owners in October.

Though many surrounding villages have lost the essential infrastructure which keeps a village alive, Darrington retains a vibrant social web with one of the most successful schools in the area.

The village Field, thanks to the fundraising and improvement efforts of the Field Committee boasts a good selection of modern play and outdoor gym equipment as well as a football pitch, and is well used and appreciated all year round.
