The much loved village shop provides residents with their daily essentials and children in the village can often be seen buying goodies on the way home from school.

The shop also offers residents the opportunity to catch up on the news with its regular supply of newspapers.

The Mid-Yorkshire Golf Club is to the east side of the village. This is a top class club with an extensive club house and function suite for events.

Though many surrounding villages have lost the essential infrastructure which keeps a village alive, Darrington retains a vibrant social web with one of the most successful schools in the area.

The village Field, thanks to the fundraising and improvement efforts of the Field Committee boasts a good selection of modern play and outdoor gym equipment as well as a football pitch, and is well used and appreciated all year round.
